Knitting 101

22 Apr

The women started knitting their products in October 2010.  All of the items are handmade. They have experience knitting hats, sweaters, bags, scarves, and baby clothes.  They are currently knitting with 100% Alpaca and some of the items they have knitted are made out of acrylic yarn.  Custom orders can be placed.  Here are some examples:

100% Alpaca Handmade by Redelinda.  Redelinda celebrated the first birthday party of her like with Mujeres Unidas.  She comes from Tingo Maria, Peru.

On December, 11, 2010, the workers of CARE Peru donated $1100 of in-kind goods to implement the daycare of Mujeres Unidas.  Every year, the workers of CARE Peru put on a contest to give a Christmas gift to an impoverished community.  The women of Mujeres Unidas put together a proposal and presented to the workers at the organization, and won the contest.  They also hosted a small Christmas party for the children in the community. The daycare officially started functioning on January 18, 2011.
